Re: Alpha one Shifting cable adjustment this is what I would do. start all over with adjustment procedure. adjust lower shift cable exactly as procedure shows. pay attention particularly to the part about the slot on the lower cable adjustment. start with pin at bottom of slot. finish adjustment procedure for both lower shift cable and remote.. Re: Alpha One Gen 2 Shift / Remote Shift Cable Adjustment at Shift Plate Don, Thanks for your note. I got that '64 to '91 Seloc Mercruiser Manual before I got the Merc OEM #14 manual (when I put a new water pump in the lower drive).. Remove the control shift cable from shift bracket at this time. Install short shift cable back onto shift bracket at this time. Take the shift control cable and adjust the trunion so it fits perfectly back into the shift bracket. Before installing it, turn the brass trunion 4 complete turns away from the plastic end and reinstall into shift.
