It has tubes for the first gain stage and single ended Class A SS output. I opened it up and the tubes are acually used to drive the SS output stage. I acually sounds decent with the GE tubes I put in it. The Chinese tubes sounded awful and very microphonic. I used a few of my SS preamps with a couple of my tube amps. They sounded pretty good.. I cannot verify this, but if this cheap hybrid amp is like most of the others, the tubes are only used 1) for show and 2) to actually color the sound before it enters the mosfet finals.
